March and April bring some of the heaviest rainfall of the year to Williamson County, and nothing makes a rainy commute more stressful than wipers that streak, skip, or squeak across your windshield. If you haven’t replaced your wiper blades since last spring, there’s a good chance they’re overdue.
Wiper blades degrade from UV exposure, temperature swings, and regular use. Most manufacturers recommend replacing them every six to twelve months. After a winter of frost and ice scraping — even occasional ice scraping — the rubber edge loses its clean contact with the glass.
Beyond the blades themselves, your windshield washer fluid matters more than most people think. In spring, pollen and road film combine to create a hazy film that’s especially blinding when you’re driving into the afternoon sun on Mack Hatcher or Highway 96. Make sure your fluid reservoir is full and that your spray nozzles aren’t clogged.
Also worth checking: the condition of your windshield itself. Small chips and cracks that were manageable in winter can spread rapidly with temperature changes in spring. A chip that could have been repaired for a fraction of the cost becomes a full windshield replacement if it spreads to your line of sight.
At Franklin Automotive, we can replace your wiper blades, top off your washer fluid, and take a look at any glass concerns during your spring visit. See better, drive safer.
